It’s the end of another gorgeous day.  Checked a bunch of things off my to-do list, and now I’m ready to sit back and enjoy the rest of the evening.  The sun is just setting beyond the trees, and I can’t think of a better place to enjoy the view than from my favorite swing.  Perched high up in the limbs of a sturdy Caragana tree, all of nature seems to pass by below my feet as I sit up there and swing.  Peacefully the time ticks by, and slowly the shadows creep across the landscape, but not a thing in the world can disturb me while I’m sitting in my thoughtful spot.

Hours fly by like minutes sometimes, and I’ll find myself looking out at the starry night sky, wondering when the moon raised its glorious head above the horizon.  Sometimes I’ll solve all the world’s problems before breakfast and then spend the rest of the morning dreaming up new problems to solve.  The content of my thoughts changes from day-to-day (sometimes minute-to-minute), but in the end I find that it’s not so much the content of my thoughts that matters so much as just the act of thinking itself.  Thinking keeps the mind fresh.  Thinking makes life exciting.  Thinking is what gets people places.  Thinking is fun.

So while I may never become as famous as Nikola Tesla or Albert Einstein, I still gain great pleasure and enjoyment from mulling things out in my head.  Sitting here, swinging peacefully up in the Caragana, not a thing in this world can interrupt and derail my train of thought.  What a wonderful way to spend the end of a gorgeous day.  Just the way I like it.

_______
Really brief and simple composite this week.
Ran around this evening trying to find the perfect limb for my composite.  I wanted something with some character (leaves, moss, flowers, anything that added some extra detail), but I also wanted something that had some negative space so that I could fit my swing into the shot and have it feel relatively natural.
Found this branch jutting out, and the light from the sun was just about perfect.  Managed to catch some solar flare and the golden light from the sun shining through the leaves, it was just beautiful.  Once I had this shot, I set myself up in the swing and quick fired off about 10 shots or so.  Compositing was really simple, just enhanced the solar flare and made some basic color adjustments.  Nothing fancy or complicated this week.
I like the premise behind this image, because I find that a day that includes time for thinking/day-dreaming is a good day.  It’s amazing how much stuff I get done after I’ve thought things through.  I just feel way more effective.  And if it wasn’t for all the crazy thinking I’ve done, I wouldn’t be here at Week 49 posting another photo!
Hope you enjoyed this week’s pic.  Stay tuned for more.
