The weather is changing, and with it, the temperature.  The sun is out and beating down upon the earth with a vengeance.  Not even the smallest creature is safe from the burning gaze of that dastardly fireball in the sky.  Fields are scorched, bees and beetles curl up and die, birds cease their chirping, dogs’ tongues nearly touch the ground, and here I sit in the middle of it all, slowly melting away.

Maybe it’s because I’ve stayed couped up inside for too long.  The lack of exposure to sunlight has caused an abnormal hypersensitivity to the sun’s rays, producing a rather unpleasant effect.  Or maybe I drank too much water my first day out, and now I’m over-saturated with liquid, loosening my skin and causing it to pool.  Or maybe radiation from the sun has increased so dramatically that all living organisms are destined to die a slow painful death of disintegration.  Whatever the case may be, all I know is that I’m sitting here in the shade, wasting away, wondering how long it will be until I’m nothing but a puddle of goo.

Don’t get me wrong, life wouldn’t be terrible as a puddle, but for some reason I had always hoped for a little more.  I haven’t got long now, but maybe I can make it to the house before all that remains of me is a giant wet-spot on the sidewalk.  Which means I should probably go.  Have fun, enjoy the nice weather, and don’t stand out in the sun too long.

I was feeling a little desperate during this shoot.  I’d sorta run out of ideas and was struggling with finding something to throw together.
I accomplished this shot by first photographing myself in the chair and then taking a separate pair of jeans and matching T-Shirt and placing them in the same position.  I then did a lot of masking, dodging, burning, and cloning in Photoshop to do my best to make the transition between the two images seamless.
One tool that I did mess around with a bit in post was the Liquify tool.  I used this to create the drips on my arms and hands, and did some extra pinching and re-shaping to give me that hagard/de-hydrated/melting look.  Not a common tool that I use often in Photoshop, but it did the job.
Anyways, that’s this week’s picture.  Hope you have a great week and truly enjoy the nice sunny weather!
