Have you ever experienced that moment when you’re on the verge of waking from a dream and you see your surroundings start to fade and you feel as if you’re getting sucked back into reality?  If you have, then you know exactly what I’m talking about, and if you haven’t, then you’re missing out!  Ok, maybe not, but it’s an interesting phenomenon for sure.

A dream is definitely not a stable place to reside.  You may be waltzing through a grassy green meadow, humming a cheerful tune to yourself when before you know it the scenery vanishes and you find yourself sitting up in bed rubbing your eyes asking yourself why it had to end so soon.  It seems to me that too often a good dream gets interrupted just at a critical moment and I’m left wondering what would have been the end result had I managed to stay asleep but five minutes longer.

But alas, dreams are but dreams.  Hoping to live in one’s dreams is wild fantasy, for indeed, dreams are totally separated from reality (though they may contain many elements that remind us of the real world).  We cannot, and should not, hope to reside in a world separated from the realities of life.  After all, if God wanted us to reside in the world of our dreams, He would have placed us in a constant state of hibernation.  😉

So don’t forget the reason you’ve been placed here at this time, this place, within this world of reality.  God has a purpose for you, seek to discover it.  Find joy in the life He has given you, and have fun along the journey.

A quick note about the above photograph.  I enjoyed trying out this popular Photoshop technique known as the “Dispersion Effect”.  It was a challenge to try to get the look I was going for, but it turned out all right in the end.  In the process, I made a custom Photoshop brush just for this effect, and if you want to give this a try (or you’re just looking for another cool brush to add to your collection), click the link below to download the brush.
