I woke up this evening with the feeling that something was not right. Maybe it was the fact that I was lying on the floor. Gone was my bed that I had dozed off in not too long ago, and here I was huddled inside the bottom of a cylindrical metal chamber.
Slowly I raised myself and looked around. At the other end of the room was a large circular entrance, and beyond it a world that I did not recognize. I stumbled towards it, fumbling in my pocket for my headlamp (one of the few things that had fortunately not disappeared). I switched it on and peered outside.
The landscape didn’t appear familiar, and the flora and fauna were of a sort that I had never encountered before. Were these trees that loomed over my head? Surely they were ten times bigger than any redwood I had ever encountered.
That’s when I noticed the label on the side of my strange sleeping quarters, my heart skipped a beat. Before me lay the remains of a larger-than-life can of Campbell’s Chicken Noodle Soup.
This must all just be a bad dream. I hope I wake up soon…
